Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Do you have a compassionate heart and the desire to make a difference in the lives of others? Our hospice is seeking dedicated volunteer pet therapists to visit patients who have requested pet therapy visits through their hospice care team. Meeting with a hospice pet therapy dog provides a long list of mental health benefits. The canine encounters bring joy and reduce feelings of isoloation, alienation, anxiety, and depression. They help take a patient's mind off their aches and pains and encourage communication - including sharing stories and emotions.
Our hospice patients live in personal homes, assisted living facilities, group homes, and hospitals all around the Phoenix metro area, the Globe area, and the Tucson area. We carefully consider location, time commitment, and mutual interests when matching volunteers with patients.
You can make a difference!

We strive to maintain patient's wishes concerning their living circumstances. Care is provided in the patients home, caregivers home, group home, assisted living and/or skilled nursing facility.
CHC has 3 major levels of care available to the patient: Routine home care, respite care, and in-patient care as well as providing a coordination of ancillary services and bereavement support.
Hospice affirms life. CHC believes that appropriate individualized care should be provided with a caring attitude. We strive to help prepare the patient, family and caregivers a degree of mental preparedness prior to the patient's death. After the patients death, we follow-up with grieving family members to ensure that all are coping well.
