ORGANIZATION: Midtown Family Services

image_20240724155351

Midtown Family Services is seeking creative chefs and/or food bloggers to help create and/or blog about, meals using inexpensive table top equipment (blender, microwave oven, hotplate, crockpot, rice cooker, and airfryer), basic implements, and whatever happens to be available that week at the food bank or already in the pantry from previous visits to the food bank, within the quite tight confines of our office kitchenette.

These limits reflect our goal to encourage our low-income clients, many of whome are single persons in efficiency apartments, to take advantage of the free resources available through the food bank, while improving the nutritional value of the food our clients are consuming, without compromising and maybe even increasing enjoyment of food.

If you've got the cooking skills but not the writing, photographing, or video recording skills, a staff member eager to become a better chef herself is available to assist with the food prep and writing, photographing, or video recording. Conversely, if you've got the writing, photographing, and video recording and editing skills, we can match you with a chef.

Hours are by arrangement within our regular office hours, 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday excluding holidays. Chefs may volunteer just once or regularly. Chefs willing to volunteer regularly may assist with the food ordering and shopping at the food bank if they like, thereby increasing the variety of ingredients available to use in the food creation.

Social media platforms we have setup include YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Volunteers are free to use any one or suggest others.
