The vision of West Tuality Habitat for Humanity is a community where everyone has a safe, decent, and affordable place to live. We believe affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities and is a foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty. Our work is focused on Western Washington County, Oregon (Forest Grove, Cornelius, Gaston, North Plains, Gales Creek, Banks, Timber, Buxton and the surrounding areas).
We are a small affiliate with a very small staff, a mix of paid staff and volunteers. Most of our paid staff are part time. Our donors expect us to put as much of their financial contributions into resources that directly impact aspiring homeowners and vulnerable homeowners, and in advocating for equitable housing policies. We leverage volunteers to suppport our staff in some functions to help meet this donor expectation. We also like involving volunteers because we want people to get an insiders look at what Habitat for Humanity is all about.
Our Habitat affiliate operates a thrift store called the ReStore, a social enterprise that exists primarily to raise funds for our home ownership and critical home repair programs. We know how to create web pages, edit pages, format pages, put in alt text on photos, and follow some basic accessibility guidelines, but we need expert guidance from time-to-time in using SquareSpace, the platform we use to manage our web sites and to engage in ecommerce.
We would like to have one to three "on call" volunteers who are experts at using SquareSpace to help us as needed, such as editing a sales form. We would love to use SquareSpace more for our interactions with our Habitat home repair clients, and have questions on if that is even possible.
These volunteers may not hear from us for several weeks, and then receive an email from us asking for guidance on something. We anticipate tasks not taking more than an hour or two at a time from a volunteer.
We are happy to thank volunteers on our social media channels and link to our volunteers' online profiles.
We also strongly encourage you to follow West Tuality Habitat for Humanity on Facebook and Instagram and YouTube and to view our web site to learn more about us.
