The Patachou Foundation is seeking passionate individuals that believe in our work, mission, vision and values to serve as well qualified leaders of our organization on our board of directors or select committees.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We specifically seek individuals who are connected to the education system in Indiana, corporate giving circles, the food system (producers, growers, distributors, manufacturers, or foodservice), and community-based school-related social services. Individuals with fundraising, marketing, PR, financial management, or media relations expertise will be prioritized. We welcome all candidates and encourage diverse young professionals and LGBTQ+ identifying individuals to apply.
YOUR ROLE
As a member of The Patachou Foundation board, you will serve 3 year terms, which can be renewed. You will be expected to serve on board committees and expected to personally contribute time, financial resources at a level that is personally meaningful among the top three philanthropic priorities for your family, and talent to the organization. You will be expected to help the organization identify and cultivate other individuals who will do the same.
EXPECTATIONS
Each individual board member is expected to:
- Know The Patachou Foundation’s mission, policies, programs, and needs as well as understand its collective purpose
- Faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements and board materials in advance of meetings
- Serve as active advocates for the organization
- Fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission
- Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to achieve the organization’s mission
- Give a meaningful personal financial donation
- Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing
- Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in board meetings
- Engage in learning opportunities to better understand the community we serve
- Respect the experiences of all who bring their voices and lived experiences to the board and organization
RESPONSIBILITIES
The board of directors is responsible for:
- Determining the mission of the organization and understanding its collective purpose
- Selecting, supporting, and evaluating the performance of the chief executive
- Strategic and organizational planning
- Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management
- Fundraising and resource development
- Approving and monitoring the organization’s programs and services
- Enhancing the organization’s public image
- Assessing its own performance as the governing body of the organization
- Ensuring legal and ethical integrity of the organization
