As a Board Member with LAIT911, you will have the opportunity to shape the strategic direction and impact of a leading disaster service non-profit organization in Los Angeles. Your role will involve governance, oversight, and ensuring the organization’s mission and values are upheld. We are seeking passionate, dedicated individuals to join our Board and contribute their expertise to further our goals of community resilience and emergency preparedness.

Board Members: Board Members participate in governance, strategic planning, and advocacy.

• Strategic Planning: Participate in the development and implementation of strategic plans and initiatives.
• Governance: Provide oversight and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards and norms.
• Fundraising: Assist in fundraising efforts, including identifying and securing funding sources.
• Advocacy: Advocate for LAIT911’s mission and engage with community stakeholders to enhance the organization’s visibility and impact.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other board members and staff to support the organization’s programs and services.

Board Officers: A Board Officer holds specific executive roles and responsibilities, such as overseeing financial affairs or maintaining organizational records, in addition to participating in governance, strategic planning, and advocacy.

Treasurer:

• Financial Oversight: Oversee the financial affairs of the organization, including budgeting, financial planning, and reporting.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations.
• Reporting: Present financial reports to the board and stakeholders.

Secretary:

• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of board meetings, decisions, and actions.
• Documentation: Ensure all organizational documents are up to date and accessible.
• Communication: Facilitate communication among board members and between the board and the organization’s staff.

• Commitment: Attend regular board meetings and participate actively in committee work.
• Engagement: Engage in strategic discussions and decision-making processes.
• Integrity: Uphold the organization’s values and act in its best interests at all times.
• Collaboration: Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment within the board and the organization.

• Experience: Prior experience in non-profit governance, management, or a related field is preferred.
• Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
• Passion: A genuine passion for disaster prevention, community safety, and public service.
• Availability: Ability to commit the necessary time and effort to fulfill board duties effectively.
