Operation Paws for Homes is a nonprofit organization devoted to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of dogs and cats who have overcome great odds and deserve wonderful, caring forever homes.

Fostering abandoned and rescued cats and kittes is a wonderful and fulfilling experience! When one cat is fostered, two cats are rescued, as fostering outside of a shelter provides a space inside. The time commitment varies from an overnight or weekend "pupover" to months for harder to place pets. The average foster stay is just two weeks.

As a foster, you will be giving a second chance to a cat who has no one to advocate for them except kind hearted people like you! These cats are saved from high kill shelters with limited resources who are unable to care for the number of animals that are abandoned at their doors. There is great satisfaction in knowing that you are saving a life!

If you have ever wanted to save lives by becoming a foster "pawent," the time is now!! You don't have to be rich or have tons of free time, you just have to be a good person who can offer a safe and loving home to a dog or cat who may otherwise face euthanasia.

We will work with you to find the right foster pet, offer medical/training/transportation support, and we are available to answer any questions. OPH covers all veterinary expenses, preventative, collar, leash, and crates or pens as needed.

Fostering is also a great way to help and to learn more about different types of dogs and possibly find a forever dog for your family! If you are a bit nervous about owning a cat or a kitten, fostering gives you the opportunity to see what dog ownership entails. It is a great way to teach a family what to expect from cat ownership without jumping into something you might not be able to handle.

Mission Statement

Operation Paws for Homes, Inc. rescues dogs of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters reducing the numbers being euthanized daily. Our goal is to fulfill the dreams of dogs who find themselves abandoned in shelters.

Description

OPH Rescue is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization devoted to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of dogs who have overcome great odds and deserve wonderful, caring forever homes. These dogs are rescued from overcrowded high kill shelters in the southern region of the United States. We also rescue a few international dogs partnering with shelters and rescues in India and Turks & Caicos who rescue dogs from dangerous and deplorable conditions.

OPH does not operate a shelter or have a physical location. We rely on foster families who open their homes to give love and attention to each dog while it waits for a forever home. In addition, we partner with wonderful boarding facilities who care for our rescue dogs. Through the foster program and our partners, we learn about each dog and its needs. These dogs have been through a lot and it may take days or weeks to allow their personality to completely unfold . We strive to provide as many details as possible to potential and future adopters which increases the likelihood of a good match for each dog and family.
