Hello. I am the Affiliate Director for I Support the Girls in Island County, WA and have been for the past 5+ years. This is the most satisifying position I have ever held in my entire life (71 years), and I have been fortunate enough to lead a good life. But not everyone is so lucky. Somehow, I finally found a niche where I belong and am so desperately needed. But we need more like me and so many others world-wide. An Affiliate Director is so desperately needed in Bellingham and Whatcome County in Washington State and truly, all up and down the west coast. If you love to help people, have the time to invest (recently retired and looking for something to do?). The return for your efforts is magnanomousyly rewarding, you can't even imagine. Help break the stigma of menstruation. Help women and girls by supplying them with the expensive menstrual hygiene products they so desperately need. Help provide them with good fitting bras, underpants and so much more. The happy tears and hugs and smiles will send you to bed every night with a smile on your face and a warmth in your heart. Through an international network of Affiliates, I Support the Girls (ISTG) collects and distributes essential items, including bras, underwear, and menstrual hygiene products, allowing women and folx experiencing homelessness, impoverishment, or distress to stand tall with dignity.
Being an Affiliate of this amazing organization helping women and girls in distress, for whatever reason, has been the most rewarding experience one could ever hope to have. We fill a need, break stigma barriers, educate and enlighten people about menstrual health and how it impacts so many areas of our lives. By collecting donations of ladies undergarments, menstrual hygiene products and toiletries, we make a difference and help provide dignity to many women and girls in need. Our efforts help provide dignity, self-respect and better health and sometimes that is all it takes to help get people off the streets and to become productive members of society.
