ORGANIZATION: Arlington Heights Memorial Library

Put your paws together for this exciting volunteer opportunity! We are accepting applications from certified therapy dog and handler teams to be Therapy Animal Volunteers. In this role, you and your dog will attend adult and youth programs, as well as department meetings, and provide a calming and de-stressing presence. And in return, we promise your pup lots of pets and belly rubs!

What qualities do we look for in a volunteer?
An individual who:

  • Has excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds with a variety of abilities.
  • Can work independently and as part of a group.

Once approved, Therapy Animal Volunteers must be able to provide the following:

  • Proof of therapy animal certification from a qualifying organization
  • Proof of liability insurance
  • Record of annual examination from a licensed veterinarian
