### Pre-Event Responsibilities
1. **Promotion**: Helping to promote the event by distributing flyers, posting on social media, and spreading the word within the community.
2. **Registration Assistance**: Assisting with participant registration, both online and in person, ensuring all necessary information is collected and processed.
3. **Logistics and Planning**: Assisting with logistical planning, which may include mapping out the walk route, organizing supplies, and coordinating with vendors and sponsors.
4. **Sponsorship and Fundraising**: Reaching out to local businesses and organizations to secure sponsorships and donations, as well as encouraging participants to raise funds.

### Day-of-Event Responsibilities
1. **Setup**: Arriving early to help set up tents, tables, banners, and other necessary equipment at the event site.
2. **Registration and Check-In**: Welcoming participants, helping them check in, distributing t-shirts, and providing information about the event.
3. **Route Assistance**: Serving as route marshals to guide participants along the walk route, ensuring their safety and providing directions.
4. **Water and Aid Stations**: Manning water and aid stations along the route, handing out water, snacks, and providing basic first aid if necessary.
5. **Cheering and Encouragement**: Cheering on participants, providing encouragement, and creating a positive and energetic atmosphere throughout the event.

NAMI Knoxville is a local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), which was founded in 1979. The Knoxville chapter, like other local affiliates, was established to address the specific needs of the community in Knoxville, Tennessee. Over the years, NAMI Knoxville has grown to become a significant resource for individuals and families affected by mental illness, providing a variety of programs and support services.
