Young STEAMers is a non-profit organization that brings a special STEAM program to every child from under-sourced, under-served, and at-risk families. Our passionate instructors not only teach but also serve as role models to help kids realize their dreams and maximize their potential.

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to support our STEAM teachers in the classroom. As a Volunteer Classroom Assistant, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience of our students by providing hands-on assistance, fostering engagement, and helping to create an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Classroom Support: Assist STEAM teachers with classroom management, preparation of materials, and organization of activities.
  • Student Engagement: Help facilitate hands-on activities, experiments, and projects to engage students in STEM learning.
  • One-on-One Assistance: Provide individual support to students who may need extra help with understanding concepts or completing assignments.
  • Encouragement and Motivation: Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment, motivating students to explore and enjoy STEM subjects.
  • Safety and Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of students during classroom activities and experiments.
Qualifications:
  • Passion for STEM Education: A strong interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and a desire to inspire students.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students and teachers.
  • Dependability: Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to maintaining a consistent volunteer schedule.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and other volunteers.
  • Background Check: Willingness to undergo a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus.
  • STEM Knowledge: Basic understanding of STEM subjects and familiarity with educational technology tools.
  • Conversational Spanish is a plus
