The Conversations on Aging (COA) Volunteer position is responsible for providing support to seniors in the community. This is a social engagement program designed for older adults to help them navigate the changes that come with aging, and to support an understanding of relevant cultural and age-related issues. All volunteers must understand, appreciate, and respect the diversity and cultural differences within our Cascadia community.

What does a Conversation on Aging (COA) Volunteer do?

  • Facilitates group conversations for seniors on specific age -related topics
  • Facilitates Life Story groups offering seniors an opportunity to tell their story
  • Facilitates ongoing, non-therapeutic support groups for seniors interested in weekly connections

Training & Support:

  • COA volunteer orientation
  • Monthly education and support meetings
  • Consultation and supervision as needed
  • Training on various age-related topics of interest
  • Group facilitation skills
