ORGANIZATION: WIND HAVEN INC
Please visit the new page to apply.
Wind Haven Peer Support Advocates must be screened, trained, and recovered survivors of domestic abuse, have a strong ability to listen, empathize, and communicate effectively with others who have experienced domestic violence, and have a non-judgmental attitude and the ability to provide emotional support and encouragement.
Peer support advocates will help moderate our online support group, actively refer survivors to our support group, assist current group members with the migration from our current group platform to the new platform, schedule and facilitate virtual peer support meetings, and provide individual support to victims and survivors as needed, connecting them with available resources and referring them to social services such as shelters, DV counseling, legal aid, etc.
Pre-service advocacy training includes completing the free VAT online training. This 40-hour training is part of the NACP pre-approved training list. There is no cost for this training. Once you complete this training, you will send us proof of completion to be certified as a Wind Haven advocate.
*Volunteer costs include the background check fee. Once you complete your online training, we will complete this step by sending you the organization code for getting your finger prints done. Cost of fingerprinting is currently $8.25.
