Do you want to make a difference in a Seniors life while you learn about another culture, create and build friendships and make ever-lasting memories? We are seeking individuals who have caring hearts, compassionate and willing to make 15 minute weekly/monthly wellness calls to a senior in need.
How We Serve: Volunteers aged 21 or older assist isolated senior citizens living in the San Antonio area to provide companionship and basic needs. It's as simple as a phone call or as personal as a home visit.

- Visit a senior in person (Once you're comfortable, you can visit your senior in their home)
- Assist with our group projects such as Deployments (Fan delivery, senior socials etc) which benefit our seniors
To Adopt-A-Senior you must...
- Complete clearance requirements (3 VIRTUS trainings, Criminal Background Check, and Motor Vehicle Release Form.)
- Document meetings with Senior and turn in log to Adopt-A-Senior Program.

Description
The Adopt-A-Senior program, which began in 2018, addresses social isolation among the senior population in San Antonio/Bexar County. Our dedicated staff and volunteers work hard to provide free direct services to at-risk senior citizens 55 years and older. We work to limit social isolation through quality social interactions with volunteer companions, reduce food insecurity through food distribution, proactively fill needs by assessing home and life situations, provide transportation to ensure seniors attend their medical and other appointments, and case management.
