Our Vet-to-Vet program strives to match a hospice patient who is a Veteran with a volunteer who is also a Veteran, or active military personnel. Offer your gifts of compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgement when it is needed most!
As little as two hours a month can make a big difference. Assignments, hours, and locations are flexible and can work around your schedule.

Mission Statement
We believe that our mission is to enrich lives. That begins with every life we encounter: our employees, our patients, and those who love and care for them, the communities in which we operate, our stakeholders and those who are yet to become our customers.
Description
Hospice emphasizes quality of life and also stresses human values that go beyond the physical needs of the patient. The hospice focus is no longer on cure but rather on comfort.
Admission and treatment is delivered without discrimination of race, color, religion, age, sex, marital status, contagious diseases or sexual orientation.
Heartland Hospice (formerly ProMedica) can help when the prognosis is down to months and is certified by a physician. Since hospice care is a covered benefit under Medicare and Medicaid and many private insurance plans, the staff will help the patient to determine what benefits they are qualified to receive.
Service and support to patient and family is round the clock (24 hours a day and 7 days a week). It is flexible regarding time, place, and any other matters concerning family and patient. Care is often in the patient's home and can be extended to skilled nursing centers, assisted living facilities and hospitals.
The hospice team consists of highly trained and caring health professionals and trained volunteers.
