About Nacel Open Door

Location:

101 5th St E, Suite 1900, St. Paul, MN 55101, US

Mission Statement

Nacel Open Door is dedicated to providing educational opportunities that promote intercultural understanding.

Description

Nacel Open Door, Inc. (NOD), a nonprofit organization, formed in April 1997 through the merger of Nacel Cultural Exchanges (established 1957, in France) and Open Door Student Exchange (established 1964). Regional Coordinators and Local Representatives facilitate programs at the local level, while the National Office (St. Paul, MN) administers programs at the national and international levels.

Young people develop a deeper awareness of their role as citizens of the world through direct experience in other cultures:

  • Academic Year Program: AYP accepts foreign students to attend American public high schools, for one semester or the entire academic year.
  • Private School Program: PSP accepts foreign students to attend American private high schools. Students usually enroll for multiple years.
  • Short Term Program: STP accepts foreign students to live with an American family for two weeks to eight weeks.
  • Nacel International School System (NISS) & St. Paul Preparatory School (SPP): SPP is an American high school, accepting over 200 international students. SPP is NISS’s original high school, established in 2003 and located in downtown St. Paul, MN. NISS also includes schools in China, South Korea, France, the Philippines, Poland, Vietnam, and Turkey.

NOD also participates in Nacel International, a group of organizations which promote Nacel programs worldwide.
