Do you want to use your legal expertise to support a meaningful cause? Not Defined By FND is seeking a dedicated volunteer to join our team as a legal analyst. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our mission of raising awareness, advocating for policy changes, and providing support for individuals with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
Position Overview: As a volunteer legal analyst, you will play a crucial role in supporting our advocacy efforts and ensuring our organization adheres to legal standards. You will conduct legal research, draft petitions, and assist in developing policy and procedure documents. Your work will help us drive change and make a positive impact in the lives of those affected by FND.
Responsibilities:
Legal Research:
Conduct thorough research on statutes, codes, and regulations relevant to the nonprofit sector and FND.
Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that impact the organization.
Analyze legal information and provide insights to support our advocacy and compliance efforts.
Petition Writing:
Draft clear, compelling, and legally sound petitions to support our advocacy initiatives.
Collaborate with the team to identify key issues and develop strategic arguments.
Ensure that petitions are well-researched and align with our mission and goals.
Policy and Procedure Development:
Develop and review policy and procedure documents to ensure they comply with legal requirements.
Assist in the creation of internal guidelines and protocols for organizational operations.
Provide recommendations to improve existing policies and procedures.
Compliance and Advisory:
Provide legal insights and recommendations to ensure the organization operates within legal boundaries.
Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
Review and draft legal documents, including contracts and agreements.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of nonprofit law and governance.
- Must live in the USA.
A degree in law (JD or equivalent) or current law student preferred.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft clear and persuasive documents.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Passion for the nonprofit sector and commitment to the mission of Not Defined By FND.
Previous experience in legal research and petition writing is preferred, but not required.
