Raise a Child of The Carolinas (RACC) is a 501c3 non-profit organization focused on exposing youth to educational opportunities that are not common within their communities, thus inspiring them to reach their full potential. The RACC organization was started in 2018 and provides local children with afterschool clubs, seasonal camps, health and wellness, and community service projects.
The Board of Directors of Raise a Child of the Carolinas will support the work and provide mission-based leadership and governance. Selected Board Members will have an extraordinary opportunity to join a mission-driven organization that is growing rapidly in the Charlotte, NC area to become impactful in both the North and South Carolina region.
Specific Board Member responsibilities include:
- Serve as an advisor to the Executive Director and help implement the organization's strategic plan
- Approving The RACC’s annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
- Assisting the Board Chair in identifying and recruiting other Board Members
- Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
- Representing The RACC to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization
- Works directly with Executive Director to guide the work relative to committees
- Ensure the appropriate use of organizational assets
Board Terms/Participation
The RACC’s Board Members will be expected to work - attend board meetings, participate in committees, and other volunteering opportunities as available. Board meetings will be held bi-monthly and committee meeting times vary once a month. Board members are not required to be located in Charlotte; however preference will be given to Charlotte residents.
Board Members will serve a two (2) year term and be eligible for re-appointment.
The RACC expects to have 100% of Board Members make (or secure) an annual contribution in the amount of $500, and to make The RACC a top philanthropic priority.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Professional and Leadership experience in a corporate and/or non-profit environment preferred.
- Relationship and networking skills with the ability to cultivate relationships and encourage people to support through financial giving or volunteering
