Want to help contribute to a variety of research and data collection that can help the Indian RIver Lagoon. There are many opportunities for citizen science - especially in the areas of animal and plant surveying and monitoring - and they may include field work, lab work, or a combination of the two. Opportunities often vary seasonally and are dependent on available grant funding and needs of our organization.

Mission Statement
To protect and restore Florida’s coastal and Indian River Lagoon ecosystems through education, research and community stewardship.
Description
The Marine Discovery Center recently celebrated 27 years of protecting and restoring the Florida Coastal and Indian River Lagoon ecosystem through education, research, and community stewardship. We should also add through exploration and adventure! Our passion for restoring our shoreline as well as bringing nature to all is one of the focuses of our vision. Our staff works tirelessly to research and conserve our shorelines as well as educate the community on how they can help. More than 500 dedicated volunteers extend the reach of our staff to help educate, inform, and entertain countless visitors through summer camps, school field trips, lecture series, classes, open houses, and special events. Additionally, they assist with daily boat and kayak tours, shoreline restoration, spotter programs, citizen science programs, SWAT Team projects, and our Welcome Center and exhibits.
