The Virtual Volunteer Information/Orientation Session will provide an overview of the DeKalb County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program for those interested in volunteering. Please note, the information session is virtual but many of the volunteer activities will occur in person. The DeKalb County CASA Program is currently recruiting Court Appointed Special Advocate, Education Advocate, and Ambassador volunteers. A CASA volunteer is a trained community member appointed by a juvenile judge to advocate for the best interests of an abused and/or neglected child in foster care. An Education Advocate is a trained community member appointed by a juvenile judge that focuses on the educational needs of a child in foster care. An Ambassador volunteer helps educate and raise community awareness regarding the DeKalb County CASA Program and the children we serve. During the virtual session, DeKalb County CASA Program staff will provide an overview of the history of the organization, offer information on volunteer roles, commitment expectations, discuss training sessions, and explain the next steps, application, references, staff interview, and answer participant questions.
