About the Brave New Voices Festival
Brave New Voices is the only national youth poetry festival of its kind. Every year, hundreds of young poets and the nation’s leading artists convene in a different U.S. city for four days of arts education, performance, and civic engagement. This year we are returning to D.C. eight years after the last time we tore it down. Back for another election year, we will be speaking truth as always and honoring the loss of a towering femme, Cydney M. Edwards. Cyd was a fixture of Brave New Voices, being festival director many times, including last year.
