Volunteer Opportunity: Therapeutic Recreation Assistant (Bilingual)
Location: The New Jewish Home - Manhattan Campus
Time: 10:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Are you a fluent Spanish speaker with a passion for reading and making a difference in the lives of others? The New Jewish Home - Manhattan Campus is seeking dedicated and compassionate volunteers to join our team as Therapeutic Recreation Assistants. This unique opportunity allows you to share your love of literature while providing comfort and joy to our residents.
Responsibilities:
- Read books aloud to residents in both Spanish and English, fostering a warm and engaging environment.
- Assist the therapeutic recreation team in organizing and facilitating reading sessions.
- Build meaningful connections with residents through shared stories and discussions.
- Help maintain a positive and inclusive atmosphere, ensuring all residents feel valued and heard.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in Spanish and English.
- Excellent reading and communication skills.
- Friendly, patient, and empathetic demeanor.
- Ability to commit to a volunteer schedule from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
