Earn a $1000 bursary by being a mentor to 2 young people!
Open to 100 post-secondary students who are currently registered at an Alberta post-secondary school for the 2024-2025 year.
Your Commitment:
- Be a mentor to two (2) young people from October 2024 through April 2025
- Spend 1 hour per week with each child (2 hours max.) at a select Edmonton school
What to expect:
- You'll participate in the BGCBigs volunteer enrollment and training process, preparing you for a successful match with your mentees.
- Each meeting follows the 20-20-20 model: 20 minutes of getting to know each other, 20 minutes of academic support, and 20 minutes of activities.
- By being a positive role model and friend to your mentees, you'll help them build self-confidence, perform better in school and feel connected to their community.
What you'll get in return:
- $1,000 bursary upon successful completion of the program

We provide a diverse array of mentoring and after school programs to meet the needs of our community’s children and youth so they have the tools and supports they need to be successful in school and in life.
We are the only Boys & Girls Clubs and Big Brothers Big Sisters across Canada who have merged under one organization. By combining the concepts of both, BGCBigs delivers programs that address the physical, emotional, academic and overall wellness of children and youth in our community.
