Sequoia Hospice is seeking interested Veterans for our hospice patients who would enjoy the presence of another Veteran.
Our volunteers provide companionship visits to hospice patients throughout Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Alameda Counties. Many of these patients are veterans and it is a wonderful gift to have a fellow veteran visit. During these visits the volunteer will be providing the comfort of the presence of a friend; you may discuss military service memories, attend We Honor Veteran's pinning ceremony, go on a walk, or simply sit beside them with the presence of being there.
Training is provided. TB test, background check, and drug screen are required and provided at no cost to the volunteer. Mileage reimbursement provided.
Hospice care is offered to clients in their private homes, residential care facilities, and to skilled nursing facilities. We work to assign you to a patient who lives as close to you as possible. We are looking for those who can provide at least one visit per week, OR if you want to be on call to attend Veteran's pinning ceremonies that would be wonderful too!
Hospice care has evolved because of the desire of terminally ill patients and their families to live life until death with dignity, and with the highest level of comfort possible for body, mind and spirit. This is a rewarding opportunity and appreciated beyond words.
