Retiring soon? Want to stay involved?

ORGANIZATION: SouthernCare Hospice

We all look forward to retirement, no schedule, sleeping in, traveling etc. If you find yourself in this situation and still want to stay a bit involved in helping the community, consider volunteering with hospice.

Volunteers at hospice can visit patients at facilities or in their private residences. They have conversations, read out loud, play music, play games, sit and watch the birds together, watch the Guardians or Cavalier games and more. Patients in their homes might need a volunteer to sit with them while their caregiver goes out to get groceries, or they might need help in their garden, or putting up seasonal decorations. Perhaps they want to write a letter to a far off friend but they can't hold a pen anymore.

If you sew or are handy with garage projects, we need people to make fidget blankets and boards for patients with dementia. You work from home :-)

If you feel the calling to sit with patients as they transition from this life to the next, you can become a Vigil volunteer with us and help a patient not feel abandoned as they pass.

Many opportunites! Think about joining us!
