Guardians of Honor: Tending the Armed Forces Tribute Garden

The City of Westminster is looking for volunteers to help care for the Armed Forces Tribute Garden. Volunteers will assist in cleaning and maintaining the garden. The garden recognizes over 1,600 honorees and provides a place to respect those who have served. Volunteer work will not begin until July 2024.
Some of the responsibilities include:
- Collecting trash,
- Blowing leaves,
- Pulling weeds, and
- Watering plants on most days.
Specific instructions will be provided upon starting the position. More involved projects may include laying sand on memorial bricks to fill gaps and re-mulching the bases of trees. These projects will be arranged by City staff and communicated to caretakers. All cleaning and maintenance supplies will be provided by the City. Volunteers will mostly work alone, but will occasionally interact with other volunteers and city staff.
About you:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to kneel for longer periods
- Can carry at least 50 pounds
- Knowledge on how to use blowing equipment
Environment: Outdoors, direct sun exposure with variable shade
Times needed:- Morning and afternoons, Sunday - Saturday
- 2 hours as needed
- 3 month commitment
