826 Boston is a nonprofit writing, tutoring, and publishing organization where students grades K-12 and beyond can share their stories, amplify their voices, and develop as leaders in school and in life. From May through June, many of our regular tutors are preparing for exams or visiting family. But, our students still need support, and that’s where you come in. We invite you to join our community of more than 750 writing coaches, tutors, mentors, storytellers, editors, illustrators, and more!
826 Boston hosts After-School Tutoring at our center in Roxbury for students in grades 1 - 6, Mondays through Thursdays from 4:15 PM - 6:15 PM. We are currently looking for tutors who can support 826 Boston programming from May to mid-June.
We encourage tutors of all backgrounds to apply, and we especially seek volunteers who identify as Black, Indigenous, Hispanic, Latinx, LGBTQ+, and/or multi-lingual so that our volunteers are more representative of the students we serve.
If you are interested, please send an email to volunteer@826boston.org. We will be in touch with next steps.

Description
Our services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. With this understanding in mind, we provide drop-in tutoring, field trips, after-school workshops, in-schools tutoring, help for English language learners, and assistance with student publications.
All of our free programs seek to strengthen each student's power to express ideas effectively, creatively, confidently, and in his or her individual voice.
