The Second Chair Grant Writer role is to support the primary grant writer in preparing compelling grant proposals to secure funding for the organization or project. Your role as the second chair grant writer is essential in providing support to the primary grant writer and contributing to the organization's efforts to secure funding for its programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the development of grant proposals by conducting research, gathering information, and providing input on narrative content and supporting materials.
  • Collaborating with the primary grant writer to draft sections of grant proposals, ensuring clarity, coherence, and alignment with the funder's requirements and priorities.
  • Reviewing and editing draft grant proposals for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to grant guidelines, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project budgets and budget narratives for grant proposals, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with programmatic goals and objectives.
  • Gathering and organizing supporting documentation, such as letters of support, resumes, and organizational profiles, to be included with grant proposals.
  • Helping to manage the grant application process, including tracking deadlines, coordinating with team members, and ensuring timely submission of grant proposals.
  • Conducting research to identify potential funding opportunities and gather information about prospective funders, including their priorities, guidelines, and application processes.
  • Assisting in the preparation of grant reports and progress updates required by funders, ensuring accurate and timely submission of reports.
  • Supporting the maintenance of accurate records of grant proposals, submissions, and outcomes for reporting and future reference.
  • Continuously expanding your knowledge and skills in grant writing through training, professional development opportunities, and staying informed about best practices and trends in the field.
