The role of the First Chair Grant Writer is central to the organization's efforts to secure funding for its programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying potential funding opportunities that align with the organization's mission, goals, and programs.
  • Leading the development of grant proposals, including drafting compelling narratives, designing budgets, and preparing supporting documents.
  • Crafting persuasive and well-written grant proposals that effectively communicate the organization's mission, goals, and intended outcomes to potential funders.
  • Developing and implementing a strategic approach to grant seeking, including prioritizing funding opportunities, setting timelines, and coordinating efforts with other team members.
  • Collaborating with program directors, finance staff, and other team members to gather information, clarify program goals and objectives, and ensure alignment between grant proposals and organizational priorities.
  • Cultivating relationships with funders, grant-makers, and other stakeholders to understand their priorities and preferences, and to enhance the organization's competitiveness for grant funding.
  • Managing the grant application process from start to finish, including tracking deadlines, submitting applications, and following up with funders as needed.
  • Assisting in the preparation of grant reports and progress updates required by funders, ensuring accurate and timely submission of reports.
  • Participating in the evaluation of grant-funded programs and initiatives, collecting data and feedback to assess program effectiveness and impact.
  • Continuously improving your skills and knowledge in grant writing through training, professional development opportunities, and staying informed about best practices and trends in the field.
