About Bridge to Promise Inc.: Bridge to Promise Inc. is a non-profit organization based in Long Island, NY, committed to coaching and empowering young people to unlock their full potential. Our mission is to provide underserved minority youth and young adults with the skills, resources, and confidence needed for success in all aspects of life.

Position Overview: Bridge to Promise Inc. is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Volunteer Newsletter Editor to create and edit our monthly newsletter. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the Executive team to gather content, write engaging copy, and compile information about upcoming events and activities. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to our organization's mission while gaining experience in newsletter production and content creation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Content Creation: Collaborate with the Executive team to determine the content of each month's newsletter, including member spotlights, upcoming events, and relevant news and updates.

  2. Content Gathering: Solicit information and materials from relevant professionals, such as speakers for upcoming events, and gather photos for inclusion in the newsletter.

  3. Member Spotlight: Cultivate a member spotlight section, writing a one-paragraph spotlight on the speaker for the upcoming month's event.

  4. Event Compilation: Compile a list of fun/educational activities around Long Island, NY, using resources such as Eventbrite and the Public Library website.

  5. Editing and Proofreading: Ensure the accuracy and clarity of all content, conducting copy editing and proofreading as needed.

  6. Submission and Distribution: Submit the final draft of the newsletter to the Executive team for approval no later than the Friday preceding the 1st of the following month. The newsletter will be emailed to subscribers on the 1st of each month.

  7. Provide life skills and updates

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Copywriting and copy editing skills.
  • Ability to conduct internet research and gather relevant information.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in email, internet browsing, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Commitment to meeting deadlines and producing high-quality work.
