Join us at SOAR365 during summer!

SOAR365 creates life-fulfilling opportunities for individuals with disabilities, annually serving over 1,700 people and their families. Founded in 1954, SOAR365 is an organization created by families, for families, an organization that has grown to provide a continuum of programs and services for individuals with disabilities across their lifespan.

We're seeking ONGOING volunteers to help us this summer. Volunteers are needed for at least one week (or several days within one week) in order to create consistency for our participants. If you want to volunteer for multiple weeks, or the entire summer, even better!!

Each week, participants pour in the door to have a fun experience and we need volunteers to help make it even more special! This is a perfect opportunity for people who want to be outside, or have a fun skill to bring, or who just like working with people. Prior to beginning, you will attend a short training on working with individuals with disabilities and we can help you feel ready for a fun event. We can promise that whether you've worked directly with individuals with disabilities before or not, you will have a BLAST!

Because this volunteer shift requires working directly with our participants with disabilities and asks volunteers to be ready to take charge and jump in where needed, we ask that all volunteers in the group be 16 and older.

-LOCATION- We have three locations that need volunteers:

  • Camp Baker - Chesterfield, VA
  • Saunders Ave - Richmond, VA
  • Staples Mill Rd. - Henrico, VA

Things to note:

  • Our programs run from 9 AM - 4 PM, depending on location. Volunteers are most needed before 2 PM each day. We're happy to work out a schedule for you!
  • The ideal candidate: fun, engaging, and excited to jump in!
  • Training: prior to beginning, you will attend an online training on working with individuals with disabilities. You do not need to have any prior experience!
  • Volunteers don't need to bring anything, we can provide materials
  • We do not allow court ordered volunteers for this role

WHEN: Programs operate Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

WHERE: Adult Programs are offered at three locations (two in Richmond and one in Chesterfield).

WHAT: Volunteers provide support with skill-building and enrichment activities, field trips, outdoor recreational games & activities, social interactions, and more!

WHO: Opportunities are available for volunteers who are willing to make a once-per-week commitment for at least three months.
  • Adult volunteers (ages 18+) are welcome.
  • Youth volunteers ages 16 and up may volunteer independently as long as they complete all onboarding requirements.
