ORGANIZATION: LA CACCINA INC

La Caccina seeks to add several new members to its board of directors, the governing body of the organization. The board meets 4 times a year, typically on Zoom. Any in-person meetings take place in Chicagoland.

The primary areas of expertise sought for the board are in the areas of marketing, audience engagement, and fundraising/grant writing. Prior experience serving on a nonprofit board or in arts administration would be helpful, but are not required. A love of choral music also is a plus!

Mission Statement

La Caccina champions and performs diverse, innovative repertoire for women’s voices to engage audiences and to inspire the next generation of collaborative musicians.

Description

La Caccina is a Chicago-based professional women’s vocal ensemble committed to musical excellence across a wide range of styles. La Caccina is dedicated to exploring the power of the female voice, and contributing new and innovative works to the treble canon. Founded in 2011, La Caccina’s namesake is Francesca Caccini, a prolific Baroque composer known for her musical prowess and beautiful singing voice. Following in Caccini’s footsteps, the women of La Caccina bring a wide range of expertise to the ensemble, enabling them to easily adapt to a variety of musical styles - from Renaissance madrigals to South African folk songs, and from contemporary pop songs to classical masterworks.

La Caccina has commissioned and premiered works by Marie-Claire Saindon, Timothy C. Takach, Augusta Read Thomas, Matthew Harris, and Melissa Dunphy, among others. La Caccina also partners with Hearing in Color to support young composers.
