In order to provide our clients (unhoused & low income women and children) with groceries, we need reliable volunteers to pick-up food from the Alameda County Community Food Bank (ACCFB). We schedule appointments with them on a weekly basis. The volunteer needed for this opportunity will be needed every other week. The ability to be flexible would be highly appreciated as some weeks, it is harder for us to get consistent appointments with ACCFB and we may need to schedule in the afternoon as opposed to the usual morning appointment we prefer.
The ability to pick-up and load 25-50lbs is important as well as having a relatively spacious vehicle that can reliably transport the food. We will have a training available in which an experienced ACCFB shopper will go with you for your first shift. We provide about 400 grocery bags per month to our clients and are able to do so with the amazing support of our wonderful volunteers!
