About SHINING LIGHT IN DARKNESS

Location:

3511 Shannon Rd, Suite 300, DURHAM, NC 27707, US

Mission Statement

Faithfully caring deeply for survivors of rape crisis, sexual violence, and domestic violence, especially those in underserved communities, so they can heal and rebuild their lives.

Description

Shining Light in Darkness (SLID) was established in 2019, as a nonprofit entity, to support healing for often overlooked victims/survivors of sexual assault (SA) and domestic violence(DV), like women of color, those living with disabilities, LGBTQIA+, veterans, and men; who, unlikely other victims, face disproportionate impacts.

Our victim-service model was designed to met needs of the whole-person, while also ensuring that communities and related professionals are equipped with tools and information to appropriately respond to their needs. Driven by our leadership team's commitment, self-financing, and self-delivery of work, we have been able to weather the COVID-19 pandemic and chart course for future success.
