Afterschool Program Volunteers supports students in grades 1st-8th who need assistance with homework (subjects include English, Math, Science, and History), as well as mentor students through games, sports, and art. Program operates Monday through Friday, 1:30 pm-6:00 pm. Volunteer schedule is flexible.

Mission Statement
Berkeley Youth Alternatives (BYA) uses two strategies to help young people and their families to address problems: Prevention--reach young people before their problems become crises, and Intervention--provide support services to those who are entangled in the juvenile justice system.
Description
BYA-Has several different programs: Afterschool/Summer Jam Program k-6, Teen Center, Computer lab, Garden Patch, Crisis Counseling Program, Girls Twilite Basketball- Sports Program, RAVE(Rising Against Violent Element), Mentoring Program, Nutrition Education Program, and Career Development. These programs are provided to enrich the lives of the participants.
