The Interfaith Refugee & Immigration Service (IRIS) is a social and legal service agency dedicated to aiding refugees, asylees, migrants and other displaced persons fleeing persecution. This year, IRIS will be resettling more refugee families and individuals than we have ever before. When the position of IRIS Administrative Intern is fulfilled by dependable, detail-oriented volunteers, IRIS can further strengthen the services provided to the hundreds of displaced persons joining the LA community in 2024.

The processes of Refugee Resettlement and Immigration have many steps. The IRIS Admin Intern will provide crucial clerical support to staff across departments including, but not limited to:

  • Provide a courteous welcome and relevant information to clients & office visitors
  • Appropriately responding to and/or passing along the emails and calls received by IRIS reception
  • Facilitate efficient, accurate mailing
  • Preparing files for case management
  • Organizing documentation and data entry of program services
  • Support office preparation of client workshops and staff meetings
  • Assisting across IRIS departments to support interdepartmental understanding

The mission of Interfaith Refugee and Immigration Service (IRIS) is to provide a gracious welcome as well as tangible tools and connections to help new arrivals achieve self-sufficiency in the United States. IRIS has several programs including: refugee resettlement, immigration legal services, cultural orientation, food pantry program and an ESL/Civics program. IRIS is a program of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles and operates in conjunction with Episcopal Migration Ministries.

Description

IRIS provides a gracious welcome and tangible tools for self-sufficiency to hundreds of refugees, immigrants, and asylees in the Greater Los Angeles region each year.

IRIS is a program of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles and the Southern California affiliate of Episcopal Migration Ministries. Since 2005, IRIS has helped over 10,000 refugees, and immigrants find hope, hospitality, and a safe haven in our community.

As a Department of Justice Office of Legal Access Program, IRIS offers free and low cost services to clients in the Greater Los Angeles area with the help of accredited staff and on staff immigration attorney. IRIS provides its clients with professional services and assistance in navigating today's complex immigration system. IRIS is pleased to offer a wide array of services including:
