Do you love to craft, draw or write? This opportunity is for you, and it can be done from the comfort of your own home, or anywhere else you want to.

Card Volunteers: We are seeking volunteers who want to create cards for our patients and their families, these could be birthday cards, anniversary cards, sympathy cards, holiday cards, etc. You can draw and create the cards from scratch or just leave hand-written notes in pre made cards, the choice is yours!

Craft Volunteers: We are also seeking volunteers who can knit, sew, crochet, etc. to help make fidget blankets for our memory care patients. Memory care patients can become fixated at picking at themselves or their clothing, to help provide relief for this fixation we can provide a lap sized blanket (roughly 18x18 inches) with buttons, bows, beads, pockets, etc. attached so that they can move, tie, open, etc. the objects attached to the blanket.

Depending upon location relevant to our office, we could pick up the items from you or arrange for shipping. Craft/letter volunteers are still required to complete the volunteer onboarding process which is subject to a background check and TB test, provided by Suncrest. Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Suncrest Hospice, please reach out with any questions you may have.

Description

Home Hospice Volunteers: Home hospice volunteers serve patients in their homes, which may be a house, an assisted living facility, or an independent living facility. The volunteer generally provides caregiver respite and/or patient companionship. The schedule for these visits varies greatly, and is typically arranged between the family and volunteer, based on the family’s needs and the volunteer’s availability. The time commitment also varies, but a volunteer generally offers two to four hours per week to the family.

Nursing Facility Volunteers: Volunteers who visit our patients in nursing homes spend their time talking with them, reading to them, or just sit quietly in their presence.

Healing Arts Volunteers: Healing arts volunteers may be licensed massage therapists, have a pet who is certified to visit patients, practice aromatherapy, music therapy, a Reiki practitioner, or an art therapist. Healing arts volunteers may practice in patient homes or facilities.

Administrative Volunteers: Our administrative volunteers perform a variety of duties in our fun office, from assisting staff with mailings, answering phones, filing, making packets, special projects, or working on the computer.

Other Talented Volunteers: Do you have a special gift or skill that isn’t listed above? Let us know! College Students Welcome! Seniors Welcome!
