ORGANIZATION: Hour Children

Summary of Need: In this role you would be working with the Education Facilitator to create a class you would like to teach. All classes need to relate to parenting in some way. The class goal should either better the parent in some way, better their relationship to their child, and/or teach them about the world in relation to their child. Some examples of past classes taught are Shared Parenting, Vision Board class that they sent home to their child(ren), and a Social Media class. The options are endless! Hour Children will provide the necessary supplies if needed. ​

Duties:

  • Create the goal of the course. ​
  • Create a syllabus that outlines how the class will be taught over several weeks​
  • Teach the class ​
  • Create a safe and fun classroom environment

3 Shifts

  • morning / 09:00 AM to 11:00 AM EST
    At least one day per week ​ Monday through Friday​ For adults over the age of 21
  • afternoon / 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM EST
    At least one day per week ​ Monday through Friday​ For adults over the age of 21
  • evening / 06:00 PM to 08:00 PM EST
    At least one day per week ​ Monday through Friday​ For adults over the age of 21

Hour Children is a leading provider of services to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women in New York State. Focused on women and their children, we support families during a mother’s incarceration and help families get back on their feet upon release. We do this by providing housing, childcare, job training, and mental health services.
