Connect is a intergenerational socialization program that seeks to end isolation that is a result of dementia and to give respite to caregivers. We create themes, activities, encounters, and an environment that involves volunteers that include college students, preschoolers, and retired and working professionals. The volunteer will provide one-to-one companionship to a participant, who is living with memory loss and will be the participant's guide throughout the day as we progress through an agenda that includes dancing, singing, art, movement, and socialization. There is no distinction between the volunteers and participants. Both will participate in all fun and games each day. It is like a day camp. We call the participants, "Friends," and we all become a community together.
