Mission: To rescue and provide a safe habitat for displaced wild animals while promoting coexistence and preservation of their ecosystems.
Purpose: Onsite Volunteer is responsible for lead-assigned tasks on days of volunteering. Tasks may include on-site general maintenance, habitat building, cleaning, grounds-keeping and other assignments. Group Volunteer Days as well as solo projects.
Location: Onsite at Wild Paws Midwest Animal Sanctuary
Key Responsibilities:
- We work outside year round therefore must have appropriate work clothing for any weather, hot or cold, including work gloves and boots; does not mind getting dirty
- Willing to learn new skills and/or be trained on various tools
- Manual labor - should be able to lift at least 30 pounds
- Must provide own transportation
- Pleasant manner, stamina, flexibility, dependability; willingness to follow Project Lead’s instruction
- Knowing your own limitations and being honest about what you can and cannot physically do (i.e. lifting or working on a ladder)
- Training will be provided, as well as all tools and equipment; Project Lead will be available for questions and assistance throughout the duration of the day
Qualifications:
- Interest in wildlife species and conservation and rescue, sustaining the environment, and education of the public
- Solid communication skills
- Knowledge of tools a plus, but not required
- Interest in building a home for life for displaced wildlife
Time Commitment: minimum 1 day per month preferred
Dress Code: Outdoor work clothes that can get dirty. Proper attire for weather (i.e. rain gear, snow boots, gloves.) No open toe sandals or flip flops. No dangling jewelry or anything that can fall off into an enclosure area or on grounds. Preferred no perfume/cologne/body spray should be worn.

Description
Wild Paws Midwest Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of wild animals. We are a collection of animal lovers passionate about protecting our resources for today and beyond.
Our team has decades of animal rescue and keeping experience collectively, and includes an experienced and passionate veterinarian, a board of directors that have all volunteered or worked for numerous years at other animal organizations, and a variety of talented volunteers all bringing their broad expertise to this organization.
