EmpowHER: Empowering Black Girls to Lead Program: Food Area Volunteer

ORGANIZATION: MARTIN LUTHER KING JR CENTER FOR NON VIOLENT SOCIAL CHANGE INC

EmpowHER : Empowering Black Girls to Lead program serves an all-black female cohort (ages 13-18). The program emphasizes character and leadership development, wellness, and career readiness.

As a Food Area Volunteer, you will help serve food at the program to the guests .

Main Responsibilities

  • Greet guests with a friendly and enthusiastic attitude
  • Help manage the flow of guests throughout the food area
  • Assist in the organization and distribution of food
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the food area.
  • Assist with breakdown and cleanup of the food area at the end of the event, if needed.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Warm, friendly, and approachable demeanor.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Experience working with youth programs is preferred.

Attire

  • All black, business casual.

  • Free parking is available on the National Park Services parking lot, which is across the street from The King Center. The entrance is on John Wesley Dobbs Drive. The address is 413 John Wesley Dobbs, Atlanta GA 30312.

Established in 1968 by Mrs. Coretta Scott King, The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change ("The King Center") has been a global destination, resource center and community institution for over a quarter century.The King Center is a 501(c)3. Nearly a million people each year make pilgrimage to the National Historic Site to learn, be inspired and pay their respects to Dr. King’s legacy.

The King Center is repositioning to meet the challenges and opportunities of today. Squarely-focused on serving as both a local and global resource, the King Center is dedicated to educating the world on the life, legacy and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., inspiring new generations to carry forward his unfinished work, strengthen causes and empower change-makers who are continuing his efforts today.
