Greet patients, families, visitors, staff in a caring, courteous and pleasant manner. Provide non-skilled/non-clinical support to a Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist in individual or group structured activities.
Volunteer support activities/tasks that may be requested may include the following:
- Gather needed supplies & materials
- Set up patients for tasks with necessary supplies/materials
- Cleaning equipment
- Provide non-skilled/non-clinical assist to patients while engaged in therapies
- Wheelchair transportation within the hospital
- Retrieve/return equipment to designated IP Therapy area

Description
Gaylord Specialty Healthcare is a rehabilitation-focused, nonprofit health system that provides inpatient and outpatient care for people at every point in their journey from illness or injury to maximum recovery.
Gaylord is widely recognized for its leadership in treating patients with a spinal cord injury, brain Injury, or stroke and those requiring pulmonary, cardiac, or complex medical care, as well as sports-related injuries. It is the only rehabilitation system licensed as a long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) in Connecticut that is accredited by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) for both inpatient and outpatient programs.
The system is anchored by Gaylord Hospital and includes Gaylord Outpatient Services and Gaylord Physical Therapy. Together, these entities deliver a complete continuum of rehab care driven by technology, research, clinical experience, and compassion.
