UpRiver Village seeks Outreach Coordinator
ORGANIZATION: VILLAGES NW - METRO
Please visit the new page to apply.
UpRiver Village is a new nonprofit forming in the Gresham area. UpRiver Village will provide extensive volunteer services to keep seniors living in their homes independently instead of forcing them into assisted living. UpRiver Village will be a "spoke" of the regional Villages NW "hub" (see www.villagesnw.org).
UpRiver Village is currently recruiting for an OUTREACH COORDINATOR who will be responsible for getting the word out about UpRiver Village IN PERSON. They will work with other volunteers to respond to requests, but also be proactive in reaching out to groups where we can make presentations, to events where we can table, and to organizations with whom we can develop partnerships. This person will schedule outreach efforts, schedule and coordinate volunteers to staff them, make sure volunteers have necessary equipment and supplies, etc. This is a big job, and we will be recruiting additional volunteers to help.
Do you, or does someone you know, have the skills and interest in taking on this KEY VOLUNTEER POSITION on our Steering Council? If so, we’d love to hear from you! Please contact us at info.upriver@villagesnw.org.

Mission Statement
Villages NW is reshaping the experience of aging. We keep older adults connected and active, contributing members of the community. With 11 neighborhood-based virtual villages, seniors make new friends close to home, participate in online coffees, happy hours and other social activities. We also help each other out when needed with neighbor-to-neighbor home maintenance, yard work and errands.
Description
The Village Movement is a holistic approach to vibrant, healthy aging. It combines a meaningful purpose in life; finding new friends as we begin to lose spouses and see less of long-time friends and neighbors; familiar surroundings; and preserving financial assets against the day when a higher level of care might be necessary. In addition to these quality of life issues, Villages fill gaps in support and services, which enable older adults to live independently.
We have 11 neighborhood-based villages with 600 members and a comparable number of volunteers in the Greater Portland Metro area. About half of our volunteers are also members.
Villagers are members rather than clients. About half volunteer in some way whether it is driving someone to the doctor, doing a little yard work, checking in with a member who is mostly homebound, working on activities or doing Village support.
