African American Women Trucking Passion (AAWTA) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Fundraising and Development Intern to join our non-profit organization. As a Fundraising and Development Intern, you will play a vital role in supporting our mission to empower African American women in the trucking industry by securing funds and resources necessary to sustain our operations and programs. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for a college student to gain valuable experience in non-profit fundraising while making a meaningful impact in the community.

Responsibilities:

  1. Donor Research: Conduct research to identify potential individual and institutional donors who align with our organization's mission and values. Compile donor profiles and develop strategies for donor cultivation and engagement.

  2. Grant Writing: Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and applications to secure funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. This includes conducting background research, drafting proposal narratives, and compiling supporting documents.

  3. Fundraising Events: Collaborate with the fundraising team to organize and execute fundraising events and campaigns. Responsibilities may include coordinating logistics, soliciting sponsorships, recruiting volunteers, and promoting events through various channels.

  4. Donor Stewardship: Support efforts to maintain strong relationships with existing donors through regular communication, acknowledgement of contributions, and providing updates on the impact of their support. Help develop strategies to increase donor retention and engagement.

  5. Database Management: Assist in managing donor databases and CRM systems to ensure accurate and up-to-date donor records. This may involve entering donor information, tracking donations, generating reports, and analyzing donor data to inform fundraising strategies.

Requirements:

  • Passion for promoting diversity and inclusion, particularly within the transportation industry and among African American women.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent research and analytical abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in fundraising or non-profit work is preferred but not required.

Time Length: This internship position will have a duration of 90 days, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs. The intern is expected to commit approximately 15-20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling to accommodate academic commitments.
