From Seedlings to Blooms: Join the Greenhouse Crew for a Year-Round Floral Adventure!

What to expect:

February into April: Transplant seedlings in the greenhouse

April and early May: Prepare soil for planting

End of May into June: Load up plants in greenhouse; take plant out to flower beds in various city parks; plant the plants

Through out summer: Weed and maintain the flower beds

End of summer through October: Clean up the flower beds removing dead plants. Winter duties vary depending on projects.

About You:

Work activities occur both inside and sometimes in inclement weather. Requires bending, balancing, crouching, stooping, lifting, reaching, standing, walking and sitting due to the physical nature of planting flower beds. Volunteer will receive full instruction on planting and growing techniques of annual flowers.

Requires a minimum of 5 hours a day for 6 weeks. Must be at least 16 years of age. Ability to perform physical work in outdoor conditions. Desire for "hands-on" experience in flower bed planting and greenhouse work.
