VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Overview

Believe in Me's 1st Gen College Hub is seeking dedicated and tech-savvy Volunteer Application Support Specialists to join our team. These volunteers will play a critical role in supporting the users of our comprehensive web and mobile platform, which aims to empower first-generation college students by providing personalized guidance, college search tools, financial aid information, mentorship programs, and more. The Volunteer Application Support Specialists will ensure users can navigate and utilize the app effectively, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to an overall positive user experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and empathetic support to users experiencing technical difficulties with the app, via email, chat, or other communication channels established by the project.
  • Troubleshoot issues, guide users through solutions in a clear and understandable manner, and escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate technical teams.
  • Gather user feedback on app functionality and usability, identifying common issues or suggestions for improvements.
  • Work closely with the development team to relay user feedback and contribute insights towards the enhancement of the app.
  • Participate in the testing of new features and updates, providing feedback from a support perspective to ensure new releases maintain a high standard of user experience.
  • Create and maintain support documentation, FAQs, and guides to assist users in navigating the app independently.
  • Promote a community of support by encouraging users to share tips, successes, and support with each other within the app environment.
Qualifications
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate solutions effectively to non-technical users.
  • Experience in customer support, technical support, or a similar role, with a track record of providing high-quality support.
  • Familiarity with web and mobile application functionality, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for helping others.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • A commitment to the mission of supporting first-generation college students and contributing to their success.
  • Previous experience with help desk software or support ticket systems is a plus.
