VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION
Position OverviewBelieve in Me, through its initiative, the 1st Gen College Hub, invites skilled and passionate Volunteer Front-End Developers to contribute to a transformative project. This role involves developing a comprehensive web and mobile platform dedicated to supporting first-generation college students. By providing personalized guidance, college search tools, financial aid information, mentorship programs, and more, this platform aims to empower students to navigate the complexities of college preparation successfully.
Key Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to define, design, and implement new features aligned with our project roadmap and technical requirements.
- Develop responsive, user-centric web applications leveraging modern front-end technologies such as Next.js and TypeScript.
- Ensure the seamless integration of external APIs and databases (e.g., NoSQL, MongoDB) to support essential functionalities, including college applications and financial aid databases.
- Uphold high web security standards, implementing best practices in authentication, authorization, data encryption, and input validation to protect user data and privacy.
- Engage in the full application lifecycle, emphasizing coding, debugging, and testing to create scalable, maintainable, high-performance software.
- Assist in preparing project documentation and technical materials to support development efforts.
- Demonstrated experience as a web developer, supported by a portfolio of deployed projects showcasing proficiency in front-end development.
- Expertise in front-end languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript) and frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue), with a strong focus on Next.js for server-side scripting.
- Knowledge of database technologies, particularly MongoDB, and familiarity with integrating various data sources and databases into web applications.
- Understanding of web security practices, data protection technologies, and a commitment to maintaining the integrity and privacy of user data.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills and a shared commitment to the mission of supporting first-generation college students.
