About the Role at CA Care Association
CA Care Association is a leading non-profit organization that provides innovative programs and services for individuals with disabilities. Every day, we strive to create a more inclusive world for thousands of Californians through education, technology, health, residential, and recreational programs across the state.
Our Home and Community-Based Services Support Team (HCBS Support Team) offers individuals with disabilities and their loved ones information and resources on programs, services, and supports available at the CA Care Association and through our network of partners, affiliates, and friends.
Role Description
As a volunteer at community outreach events, you will represent the CA Care Association and disseminate information about our support and services, primarily at tabling events. You will be accompanied by a member of the CA Care Team, who will support you and answer any questions you may have. This team member will act as a mentor and demonstrate the best ways to engage with our community. A typical event could last from a few hours to an average of eight hours. You are expected to arrive at the agreed-upon time with the CA Care Team.
We seek individuals with strong communication skills who enjoy interacting with people at our community outreach events. Those who find their experience most rewarding are adaptable and flexible, often learning new information on the job. Lastly, it would be best if you were organized and punctual, as we usually have visitors the moment one of our community outreach events begins.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Assist the CA Care Team with activity set-up and breakdown.
- Help create presentation materials that are attractive and engaging to the public.
- Interact with event attendees about the CA Care Association’s support and services.
- Distribute literature about CA Care Association’s support and services to event attendees.
- Capture attendees' interest at events and share with the CA Care Team.
- Represent the CA Care Association positively at all times.
- Perform any other tasks requested by a member of the CA Care Team.
Please note that this is a volunteer position. It can count towards any program requiring you to donate your time and effort. We are also happy to provide references upon request. Those open to volunteering in more than one borough will have more opportunities.
Ca Care Association proudly announces that we became a certifying organization that honors our dedicated volunteers with the President's Volunteer Service Award. This award is a testament to their commitment to making a positive difference in our community.Interested? Want to learn more?
