Are you wanting to help refugees learn English as they acclimate to the United States?
Volunteers are needed in the Mesa and Phoenix area to teach English reading and writing to newly resettled refugees.
Have simple, natural conversation practice with refugees who are learning the language and help them to feel more comfortable with basic dialogue, practice useful phrases and words, and help them memorize key vocabulary they’ll need in everyday life.
As a volunteer you will be matched to a refugee in your community. Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest does not have a specific curriculum you will be asked to follow. Shifts will occur inside refugee's homes or the community.
Help your community by using your own experiences and knowledge.
