We are currently seeking volunteers to become mentors for our Refugee Youth Mentorship Program (RYMP). Partner in Employment matches a community-based mentor with a newly arrived immigrant/refugee youth (majority being from Afghanistan at this time) ages 18-24 in South King County, who will support their integration and help them thrive. In a trusting one-to-one relationship, these young people will have someone to seek advice in achieving education and career development goals, as well as promoting interpersonal and social-emotional skills. Mentors play a crucial role in youth confidence building through patience, positivity, encouragement, and dedication.

MUST HAVE ability to meet your mentee in person for the required 4 hours/month for at least 6 months, at locations that are of interest to your mentee. Examples could be going to a movie, museum, or sporting event, or spending the day at a park. There will also be monthly events where all RYMP mentees/mentors will come together to do activities in the community together.

Highly desired:
Volunteers of Immigrant/Refugee backgrounds, bilingual in Afghan Languages.

Steps for onboarding/screening:
Complete an inquiry call -> application -> reference checks -> one hour interview -> background checks (National Criminal History/Driving Record) -> one hour Mentor Training.
