Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Caris Healthcare

Caris Healthcare is an active partner in the We Honor Veterans program, a joint effort of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). We Honor Veterans prepares and supports hospice providers in caring for veterans of all conflicts. As a We Honor Veterans partner, Caris is able to meet the unique needs of our veteran patients and their loved ones.

What does Caris Do?
We make sure our volunteers understand the unique needs of our veterans.

  • - Caris regularly trains its staff on how best to care for veterans and their loved ones.
  • - Caris tends to the specific and unique needs of veterans at the end of life.
  • - Caris provides training to staff at the nursing centers specifically on caring for veterans at the end of life.
  • - Caris seeks out veteran volunteers to provide one-on-one interaction with our patients who are veterans
  • - Caris cherishes the opportunity to serve those who have served us

Jim Loftis, a Caris Veteran Volunteer from Cookeville, TN told us: "My motivation, as a veteran volunteer, is to pay the veteran back for their time and service to our nation. Veterans seem to open up to other veterans and are more willing to share their stories and experiences. As a veteran myself, I find the volunteer experience to be very rewarding"

As much as they sacrificed while in uniform, Caris Veteran Volunteers continue to serve by making a difference in the lives of our veteran patients and their loved ones.

ITS EASY TO GET STARTED!
